About Ms. Gillespie

Carolyn Gillespie graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s in education. Prior to Athlos they had over 33 years of experience with New Orleans and Jefferson Parish Public Schools.

Gillespie’s top goal as an educator is to build situations of mutual respect between herself, students, and colleagues. When asked their best quality they said, “I never give up on a student! It is important to me to provide success for each student, no matter what their skill level is!” Gillespie looks foward to teaching at Athlos because, they appreciate the class size, which is smaller than the classes they were used to in the public school system; they can have much more individual interaction with students to meet their needs. Gillespie was drawn to the Athlos model because they values the emphasis that is placed on staff and students being healthy and maintaining strong interpersonal skills, as is outlined in the Performance Character curriculum.

Favorite Performance Character Trait:

Grit! Without it, you will never face the challenges of life!
