About Ms. Sails

Darria Sails graduated from Southern Agricultural and Mechanical University in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science with a minor in theatre and dance. Sails is a member of the sorority Delta Sigma Theta. Sails has been teaching for six-plus years and is currently working on her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. One of Sails’ core beliefs is that respect, discipline, and understanding should be central to a school’s culture, and having high academic standards is the key to long-term student success. As a teacher, she believes it’s essential to work effectively as an individual contributor and team member. She’s an effective teacher with a reputation for working well with other faculty, parents, and school administrators.

Sails’ experience in the classroom has also taught her the importance of advanced planning using student data, strong classroom management skills, and the most effective ways to relate to her students. In addition, she has developed good instincts as an educator, many of which became fortified through the training she received through professional development and workshops. Finally, as an educator, she strives to be consistent with her expectations and positive during delivery and remediation.

Favorite Performance Character Trait: Curiosity

“The Performance Character trait that most resonates with me is curiosity,” she said. “I know as kids, and as adults, we are all curious about different things. As a teacher, I insist on creating a classroom environment that nurtures curiosity and independence while maintaining a safe and trusting atmosphere.”
