Reopening for the 2020–2021 School Year

Dear Athlos parents,

Thank you for your patience, support, and feedback as we’ve worked through plans for reopening school this fall. We’ve been preparing for a number of scenarios in accordance with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, local health departments and the state. The information we are receiving continues to adjust as conditions change; however, we recognize that there is limited time to prepare and you need information to plan for the upcoming school year. We strongly believe face to face learning is the best option for our students.

In an abundance of caution and to allow proper health and safety training for our staff, Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish will be starting the school year using distance learning. The distance learning program will be all online instruction with improvements based on feedback from parents, students, and teachers after this spring. Instruction will be guided by Athlos teachers and supported by an adult in the home. Both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (accessible at any time) learning elements will be incorporated. All distance learning resources will be accessed through Clever, the online portal rolled out in May, and additional improvements have been launched over the summer to support a comprehensive learning management system.

It is our aim to offer two learning options for families beginning after Labor Day, on-campus learning or distance learning. More details related to pre-cautions and protocols that will be taken in an on-campus program will be announced at the beginning of August if not before, depending on state and/or health authorities’ guidance.

If you are in need of technology for your student(s) to participate in distance learning please contact

“Grab and go” meals for multiple days will be served through Driveline, similar to this spring. More information about pick up dates and times will be announced before the start of school.

If you have questions about reopening, please email them to We will be collecting questions and answering them in a live FAQ section on our website, similar to the distance learning FAQ that was posted this spring.

We value each of our students and families and appreciate the trust you have placed in our school system. We look forward to seeing you for the 2020-21 school year.

Thank you,

Keisha Rogers
