Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish is Seeking Special Education Advisory Council Members:
AAJP is currently seeking applications for seven (7) Special Education Advisory Council members to join the council in the roles of: two (2) special education stakeholders, four (4) parents/guardians of a student with exceptionalities, and one (1) teacher, administrator, or paraprofessional working currently at Athlos JP.
This council will meet monthly to provide advice and recommendations regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources. The council will also engage in outreach activities to the community at large to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration with respect to special education.
Members are being sought from the following stakeholder groups:
1. Parents or legal guardians of students with disabilities enrolled at Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish
2. Special Education Stakeholders (Adults with disabilities, Self-advocates, Members of organizations serving students with disabilities, Employers of students with disabilities)
3. Teachers, Paraprofessionals, or Administrators currently employed at AAJP
