Torre’ Merricks

Torre’ Merricks brings a dynamic and creative background to her role as an educator, with professional experience spanning the entertainment industry and education. She studied at Prairie View A&M University and Louisiana State University–Shreveport, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and is on track to complete her master’s in December 2025.

Before joining Athlos, Ms. Merricks worked as a professional dancer, performing alongside several well-known artists. Her talents also extended behind the scenes in the film industry, where she worked as a set dresser on numerous popular television shows and projects—some of which might be fan favorites in her own classroom. Following the entertainment industry’s writer’s strike, she was presented with a new opportunity at Athlos—and has been with the school ever since. In her own words, “Education is way more entertaining!”

Ms. Merricks is passionate about creating a lasting, positive impact on her students. Her relatability is one of her strongest qualities as an educator—she has a unique ability to connect with students in a way that fosters trust, respect, and open communication. Her approachable nature and enthusiasm help create a vibrant, supportive learning environment where students feel seen and inspired.

Each school year, she looks forward to returning to the Athlos community. She loves the energy of the staff and the joy of working with her students, and she remains deeply committed to their growth—both in and out of the classroom.
