About Mr. Bridges

Larry Bridges graduated from William Carey University, located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. There he earned a degree in elementary education with a concentration in math and science. After serving as a classroom teacher for a period, he decided to move to New Orleans in 2019 to further his profession in the field of education.

Mr. Bridges spent one year in the Moss Point School District in Moss Point, Mississippi, assisting students with passing several of their state tests. Additionally, he spent six years with the Jackson County School District in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, teaching seventh-grade math. He has spent his last three years at Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish teaching sixth-grade math.

Mr. Bridges feels that his best quality as a teacher is patience. “I am very patient with my students and their parents, and I never give up on my students. I always try out new ways to help them succeed in math,” he said. When asked his top goal he says, “My goal as an educator is to make sure I inspire my scholars to love Math and Life.”

At Athlos he looks forward to seeing his new scholars and interacting with his fellow educators. He was drawn to the Athlos model because he loves that the Athlos model focus on the whole scholar.
