About Lidia Amaya

Lidia is a passionate and dedicated educator with a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans and additional studies from Holy Cross College. With a strong background in supporting multilingual learners, she brings a wealth of experience to her role at Athlos Academy.

Before joining Athlos, Lidia spent five years teaching at Young Audiences Charter School (YACS), where she focused on nurturing both the academic and social-emotional growth of diverse student populations. Her commitment to fostering a culturally responsive classroom ensures that English as a Second Language (ESL) students feel respected, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Lidia prioritizes building strong, collaborative relationships with students and their families, reinforcing responsibility and learning both at school and at home. She also works closely with school leadership to support the holistic development of each student—academically, physically, and in character.

She was drawn to Athlos Academy because of its unique focus on educating the whole child through the Three Pillars: Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character. Lidia believes this well-rounded approach equips students with the tools they need not only to succeed in school, but to thrive in life.

Favorite Performance Character Trait:

GRIT

My favorite trait is Grit because it’s all about perseverance. I admired how it teaches students to push through challenges, develop resilience, and build confidence in their ability to grow and succeed.
