Each spring, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) administers the LEAP 2025 Assessment to measure a school’s effectiveness in educating students year to year. This week, the LDOE released School-level Performance Scores (SPS) based on last spring’s LEAP assessment results.
We are excited to announce that Athlos Academy increased our score by 11.9 points from the 2021 simulated score. In comparison, Louisiana’s statewide performance score increased by 1.8 points. Our growth improvement from 2021 to 2022 was greater than 96% of all schools in the state of Louisiana. Equally promising is to report that our progress grade also improved by two letter grades.
One year ago, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Brumley highlighted in his report the challenges from the pandemic and natural disasters plaguing school systems, teachers, and students. We could not agree more with his views. Despite these challenges, we achieved the following:
Overall “Mastery and Above” progress was made in the following areas on 2021-2022 LEAP 2025
• 2% increase in combined grades 3-8 English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies
• 3% increase in grades 3-8 LEAP – ELA
• 1% increase in grades 3-8 LEAP – Math
• 3% increase in grades 3-8 LEAP – Science
• 2% increase in grades 3-8 LEAP – Social Studies
We want to acknowledge and congratulate the students, staff, and families who collectively accomplished this level of academic growth in one year!
While we know that there is still much progress to be made, these results demonstrate that we are on track to achieve our academic goals. With the leadership and support of LDOE, we trust that each scholar at Athlos Academy will exceed their growth/proficiency trajectory and be promoted from Athlos with a prepared mind, healthy body, and performance character traits.
