Message from Executive Director Cheryl Martin

On behalf of the leadership team, I would like to thank all the parents who took the time to complete the parent survey last month.  Congratulations to our 3rd Grade classes who had the most families to complete the survey.  Students in 3rd Grade will be rewarded with a pizza party.

I have been analyzing the results with the local and district leadership teams. We have identified communication as the first area we would like to address. Some of our current practices include monthly newsletters, email, and text reminders. While we have improved the frequency and quality of the information shared, we will now shift our focus to timeliness and the accessibility of staff during business hours.

There were several comments regarding accessing the school by phone during the early morning or late afternoon.  We have reviewed our current practices and added a team member to assist with phone calls during arrivals and dismissals.  Additionally, last year we adjusted the reporting time of our receptionists so there is someone at the school to receive calls until 4:30 p.m.  Keep in mind that our teachers end their day at 4:00 p.m., so the receptionist will take a message, and the staff member has 48 hours to return your call.

We are also working with our teachers to improve their communication.  We prefer that staff members utilize the traditional method of phone calls; however, many of our teachers and parents prefer electronic communication via apps like Class Dojo, Remind, or Clever. To access Dojo or Remind, you must accept the email invitation from your child’s teacher. All students have access to Clever and can log in using their student id and birthday.  You may reach out to your child’s teacher if you do not have their Clever login information or if you did not receive the invitation to join Dojo or Remind.

Lastly, we are committed to improving the timeliness of our communications regarding updates. If there is a change in an event, we will be sure to communicate it via text and email as promptly as possible. As parents, we understand the sacrifices made to attend performances or prepare in advance for student events such as spirit weeks. We value your time, and we appreciate your partnership.

I sincerely hope that improved communication will be identified as a strength in our next parent survey.

As always, thank you for partnering with us in educating your child.
