Athlos Academy is committed to student and staff safety to create the best possible learning environment for scholars. Our commitment includes a school safety plan, security cameras, a single point of entry, locked exterior and interior doors, a perimeter fence, and hallway monitors, among other safety measures.
The Athlos Governing Board recently approved an additional safeguard for Athlos Academy. The Board entered into an agreement with JPSO to have an officer present on campus during school hours. This week, Officer Beck began a full-time contract to provide school safety in addition to the presence of an officer during the school start and end times.
Officer Beck will be responsible for de-escalation between visitors and staff, helping develop best practices for safety drills, patrolling school grounds and monitoring school cameras, and conducting backpack searches if the officer suspects a student is breaking the law. In addition, the officer will help protect against theft and property damage and assist in medical emergencies. The officer will report to Mrs. Martin, Executive Director.
The new position is funded by a grant and will support students, staff, and families during school hours. Please help us in welcoming Officer Beck to Athlos Academy!
