About Ms. Simms

Ms. A. Simms is ecstatic to be your child’s Grade 4 math and science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year at Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish. This year is her third year of teaching, and science is her favorite subject. Ms. Simms is a graduate of William Carey University, where she majored in psychology with a minor in biology. Ms. Simms was born and raised NOLA. She is a proud parent of a four-year-old son and two fur babies. Ms. Simms is said to be a wonderful mother, godmother, aunt, daughter, cousin, and friend. She is currently working towards her teacher certification.

Ms. Simms’s education and experiences have helped her to build a foundation to become the best educator that she can be for your child. Ms. Simms’s learning foundation is inspired by Nelson Mandela. Mr. Mandela explained that “education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world.” Ms. Simms hopes to close some of the learning gaps in education and build your scholar to be their best future self.

Favorite Performance Character Trait: Curiosity

“The Performance Character trait that hits home for me is curiosity,” Ms. Simms said. “I am always curious about new things.” She strongly agrees with thinking outside of the box and solving problems with innovation.
