Building Repairs, Assessments and Teacher Instruction/Student Learning

Yesterday we sent communication regarding the on-campus assessments that will begin next week after Fall Break.  Thank you to the parents who reached out with questions and feedback following this communication. This gives us an opportunity to provide more information in three areas: returning to school full-time in-person, assessments, and teacher instruction/student learning.

On-Campus Assessment Schedule October 13-15

Next week we will begin assessing students on campus.  We are required to provide assessments on campus in-person.  While we cannot reopen the building for all students at this time, we can reopen the building for a limited number of students; we will schedule the assessments by last name to limit the number of students on campus each day and provide the best environment for assessments. We will provide transportation, breakfast, and lunch.

New Official School Calendar Update

On September 28, 2021, the Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish governing board approved the updated official school calendar for the 2021–22 school year. The rationale for the calendar was based on the feedback from surveys, this option being the least disruptive to the previous calendar, and provides for more instructional time before our end of the year LEAP Testing window closes.

Distance Learning Town Halls

Distance Learning will begin September 20. Technology pick-up will continue on Monday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m and by appointment after Monday. Distance Learning and Town Halls

Distance Learning will begin September 20. Technology pick up will be at the school on September 16 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Parents and families are invited to a virtual Town Hall for Distance Learning on September 16 at 5:00 p.m.  There are two Town Hall meetings: one for grades K-4 and one for grades 5-8.

Uniform Policy Change

Athlos Academy is recommending updates to the uniform policy.  Parents must be notified 60 days prior to the new policy being enforced.  This serves as the 60 day notification, meaning that the policy will be implemented Monday, October 25.  The four main updates are highlighted below, with both the old and new language on the policy.
